Lauréats ANPS 2024-2025 : Saly Sarr sacrée Meilleure sportive, Édouard Mendy Meilleur joueur expatrié
The National Association of Sports Journalists of Senegal (ANPS) has announced the winners of its annual awards for the 2024-2025 season. Following a vote by sports journalists, athlete Saly Sarr was named Best Sportswoman of the Year, while international goalkeeper Édouard Mendy received the title of Best Senegalese Player Abroad.
Saly Sarr, the queen of Senegalese athletics
With 249 points, Saly Sarr dominated the ranking of Best Senegalese Athlete. The long jump specialist thus confirms her consistency at the highest level and her status as an ambassador for national athletics on the African stage.
Behind her, the national Beach Soccer team, the reigning African champions, finished 2nd with 196 points, while karateka Karamba Kébé completed the podium with 81 points.
Édouard Mendy, the consistency of a world-class goalkeeper
In the category of expatriate players, Édouard Mendy, goalkeeper for Al-Ahli (Saudi Arabia), was the one chosen by the sports press. He totaled 162 points.
African champion 2022 and still performing well at club and national level, Mendy is ahead of Tottenham's young midfielder, Pape Matar Sarr (116 pts) and striker Nicolas Jackson who plays for Bayern Munich, credited with 109 pts.
