While the winners of the most prestigious individual distinction were previously contacted in the weeks preceding the ceremony, particularly by telephone, this is no longer the case.
"Do you have any idea why I'm calling you?" It's a few days before the 2022 Ballon d'Or ceremony when Karim Benzema receives a call from the editor-in-chief of "France Football" to announce that he has won the award. "Magnificent. It's going to take me a while to get over it," Benzema replies.
Until 2023, winners were notified in advance, notably to arrange an interview and photo shoot. Since 2024, this is no longer the case.

le ballon d or c est un ensemble de jeu de tele realite par contre nous on a qu a occuper nos young talents .....
ce n'est plus cas voilà pourquoi Dembélé espère qu'il va remporter le B.O et sera présent . Malheureusement en 2025 Yamal sera sacré le plus jeune ballon d'or de l'histoire...
Moi personnellement , pour l'instant, j'en ai rien ciré. Et si Dembélé le rate rappel , on peut l'appeler ballon poubelle !
