Match amical : les Lions retrouvent un mondialiste
After two friendly matches in November – a 2-0 defeat against Brazil and a resounding 8-0 victory against Kenya – Senegal will play a third test on December 13 at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Diamniadio. The name of their next opponent has leaked: "Barring any last-minute changes, the Lions are expected to face the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde," reveals Source A, citing a federation source.
This African derby was originally scheduled to be played in France in November, but its last-minute cancellation forced the Lions to face Kenya as a replacement. Although Cape Verde did not qualify for the continental tournament, they did secure a place at the 2026 World Cup. An opponent that will provide "a good challenge" for the Lions, who are aiming for a second title in Morocco after their victory in 2021, according to the same source.
This encounter between Lions and Blue Sharks marks their reunion after their confrontation during the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, where Senegal eliminated Cape Verde 2-0 in the round of 16.
After this match, Pape Thiaw and his men will travel to Tunisia to challenge the Eagles of Carthage in their final preparation match before departing for Morocco, where the final phase of the AFCON will be held (December 21 – January 18, 2026).

Beau match.
