Ligue 1 Sénégalaise : Teungueth FC et l’US Gorée se neutralisent pour l’ouverture (0-0)
The Senegalese Ligue 1 championship officially kicked off this Friday, November 1st, at the Ngalandou Diouf stadium, with an opening match between Teungueth FC and US Gorée. It was a balanced encounter, but ended in a goalless draw (0-0).
The first half was generally cautious. Both teams sized each other up, trying to find their rhythm without truly committing. Few clear-cut chances emerged to liven up the proceedings, each side preferring to play a solid defensive game before venturing forward.
Upon returning from the locker room, Teungueth FC attempted to inject more pace into their game by making several attacking substitutions. Khalifa Ababacar Diop notably missed a golden opportunity that could have secured the victory for his team.
On the other side, US Gorée responded by making three substitutions with twenty minutes remaining, hoping to inject some dynamism into their attack. But despite these adjustments, the score remained unchanged until the final whistle.
Note that Gorée defender Élage Adama Ndoye, already booked, was sent off in added time after a second yellow card, leaving his teammates to finish the match with ten men.
The two teams thus finished level, each earning a point on this first matchday. It was a hard-fought opening game, but marred by a lack of clinical finishing from both sides.
