Mondial 2026 : Infantino s’oppose fermement à toute idée de boycott
With the 2026 World Cup just months away, co-hosted by the United States alongside Canada and Mexico, the idea of a boycott is beginning to emerge in several European countries. The reason? Donald Trump's return to the forefront of American politics and his controversial positions on domestic and international issues.
Faced with these increasingly vocal pronouncements, FIFA President Gianni Infantino felt compelled to respond firmly. The Italian-Swiss leader spoke to Sky News, calling for unity and rejecting any attempt to politicize world football.
"I am against bans just as I am against boycotts. I think they achieve nothing. They simply contribute to more hatred," Infantino told Sky News.
For the FIFA president, football should not be held hostage by geopolitical considerations. He also highlighted what he considers an inconsistency in the current debates. "Is anyone asking for the United Kingdom to stop trading with the United States? I haven't heard anything like that. So why is football being dragged into it?" he asked.
In an international context marked by divisions and tensions, Infantino sees the World Cup, on the contrary, as a tool for unity. "In our divided and aggressive world, we need opportunities where people can come together and unite around their passion," he concludes.

Et pourquoi donc la FIFA a-t-elle suspendue la Russie des compétitions internationales se ce n'est pour des raisons de géopolitique ?????
