Naufrage de Tottenham à l'Atletico (5-2) : Ce que la presse anglaise pense de Pape Matar Sarr
Struggling in the Premier League (just one point above the relegation zone), Tottenham had found success in the Champions League, finishing third in the regular season. But in the first leg of their round of 16 tie against Atletico Madrid, Igor Tudor's men collapsed, losing 5-2.
Starting in a midfield two alongside Archie Gray, Pape Matar Sarr had a difficult evening. On Real Madrid's second goal, his poorly executed pass forced Van de Ven to slip, giving Griezmann a one-on-one opportunity. Reactions in the English press were mixed. While the Daily Standard gave the Senegalese midfielder a 5-star rating, despite acknowledging he was out of sorts in the first half, others were less forgiving.
"He had a disastrous first touch for someone playing in the heart of the action," wrote Goal, giving him a rating of 3. "He never really looked like he was," wrote Football London. It's worth noting that the worst rating of the match undoubtedly went to goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky (rated between 0 and 1), who made two blunders in 15 minutes and was substituted in the 17th minute, when the score was already 3-0.
Here are the different ratings given to the Senegalese player Pape Matar Sarr
Daily Express
Pape Matar Sarr - 4/10: He had some good moments with the ball but was far too often harassed by hungrier and faster midfielders.
Goal
Pape Matar Sarr 3/10 : He had a disastrous first touch of the ball for someone who plays in the heart of the action.
Football London
Pape Matar Sarr 4/10 . His pass went directly to Griezmann after Van de Ven slipped and he almost scored an own goal, were it not for Vicario's save, although Le Normand did deflect the ball. He never really seemed to have the rhythm of the game and made a few loose tackles.
Daily Standard
Pape Matar Sarr 5/10 : He headed a shot towards his own goal that was brilliantly saved by Vicario, and also delivered a pass that Van de Ven failed to control as Griezmann raced forward to double Atletico's lead. He made more tackles than any other Spurs player on the pitch, but he looked completely out of sorts in the first half.
Spurs Web
Pape Matar Sarr 4/10 : He almost scored an own goal, but Vicario was there to deny him, although this action led directly to Atlético Madrid's fourth goal. In the second half, he had more possession and managed a few long-range shots.
