OM : Christophe Dugarry s’en prend ouvertement à Habib Beye
Tensions are rising around Habib Beye. After Olympique de Marseille's 1-0 victory over Le Havre on Sunday in Ligue 1, the Senegalese coach denounced what he considered personal media criticism. His remarks provoked a particularly vehement reaction from Christophe Dugarry.
On RMC, the former French international didn't mince words, criticizing Habib Beye's attitude after what he considers a disappointing season. According to Dugarry, the Marseille coach's statements give the impression of a manager more concerned with his image than with his team's sporting results.
"When you have such a catastrophic season, how can you come to a press conference to complain?" the consultant said, before suggesting that Habib Beye needed to show more humility.
The former Marseille player went even further, calling the Senegalese coach's speech "ridiculous," denouncing what he considers a form of paranoia towards journalists.
Dugarry also indicated that Beye had arrived at this position "by chance", while still stating that he believed in his potential to become a good coach in the future.
This latest media appearance fuels an already tense atmosphere surrounding the Marseille club and intensifies the debate about the treatment of Habib Beye since his arrival as manager. Some even see it as a deliberate vendetta against the Senegalese coach, who is regularly targeted by personal criticism that sometimes goes beyond purely sporting matters.
