Premier League : un joueur de Tottenham menacé avec une arme à feu par son ancien agent
The relationship between professional players and agents can sometimes turn into conflict, especially when significant financial stakes are involved. Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie recently experienced this firsthand.
According to revelations by The Sun, the Italian international of Nigerian descent was allegedly threatened with a firearm by his former agent. The incident reportedly occurred in early September while the player was walking on a busy London street with a friend. The altercation is said to have erupted after Udogie informed his representative that he wished to end their working relationship.
Alerted, London police reportedly intervened around 11 p.m. on September 6. The 31-year-old suspect was arrested two days later. He now faces charges of possession of a firearm with intent, extortion, and driving without a license.
Tottenham have pledged their full support to the player and his family, while declining to comment further on the ongoing investigation. No injuries have been reported, but a source quoted by The Sun claims the incident has deeply affected the young left-back.
Despite this setback, 21-year-old Destiny Udogie quickly returned to competition. He notably played in Spurs' resounding 4-0 Champions League victory against FC Copenhagen on Tuesday night.
