Prêté à Nuremberg, Pape Demba Diop fait son retour à Strasbourg
Pape Demba Diop's German adventure is already drawing to a close. Loaned last summer by Racing Club de Strasbourg to FC Nuremberg, the Senegalese midfielder will return to Alsace in the coming days. His conspicuous absence from the Bundesliga 2 club's preseason training on Monday quickly confirmed the news.
According to the German media outlet "Kicker," RC Strasbourg Alsace (RCSA) has decided to activate the recall clause included in the loan agreement. This option allows the Alsatian club to reclaim its Senegalese midfielder before the initial end of the agreement. Having made 10 league appearances, Pape Demba Diop had gradually established himself in Nuremberg's rotation.
This decision, however, was not well received by the German club. FC Nuremberg's sporting director, Joti Chatzialexiou, made no secret of his disappointment. "We deeply regret Strasbourg's decision. We would have liked to extend Demba's loan, as he had integrated very well into the team and fully met our expectations," he told the local press.
Back in Strasbourg, Pape Demba Diop could now be part of the Alsatian staff's plans for the rest of the season, as the club was looking to strengthen its squad with the departure of Mamadou Sarr to the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco-2025.
