Qualification des Lionnes pour la CAN 2026 : le ministre des Sports salue “une source d’inspiration pour toute une génération”
A few minutes after the heroic qualification of the Senegalese women's national team for the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), the Minister of Youth and Sports, Khady Diène Gaye, wanted to congratulate the Lionesses through an emotional message published on her Facebook page.
"It is with pride and satisfaction that I congratulate you on your brilliant qualification for the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations," wrote the minister, who also highlighted the determination and solidarity shown by the players to secure their place on Ivorian soil, after a decisive penalty shootout.
In her message, the minister paid tribute to the entire group for having "written a new glorious page in the history of Senegalese sport." She praised "a symbol of audacity, determination, and excellence," believing that this performance is a true source of inspiration for all young Senegalese girls who dream of succeeding in sport.
"Beyond the sporting performance, this qualification illustrates the rise of Senegalese women's football," she added, before extending her congratulations, on behalf of the President of the Republic Bassirou Diomaye Faye, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, the government and all the Senegalese people, to the technical staff, the Senegalese Football Federation and all those who contributed to this success.
The minister concluded her message with a note of national pride:
“Senegal is proud of you. Continue to fly the national flag and make our country shine on the African stage.”

Bravo à l'équipe nationale féminime qui vient de décrochet son ticket qualificatif pour la CAN féminime 2026, à tout l'encadrement et félicitation et encouragement au Coach Mame Moussa CISSE que je connais bien en tant que mon encadreur quand je faisais mon dipôle de 1er dégrés de Football én 2006 à l'Institut Ndimbar de Saly.
Que du bla bla. On se félicite d'une participation et c'est ça qu'on appelle ministre. Il changer les choses au basket en se fâchant avec beaucoup de dirigeants véreux.
Tout le monde sait ce qui se passe dans le basket Sénégalais. C'est la même course que fait Sonko pour aller retrouver l'argent des gorgolus caché alors que notre ministre pas son temps à féliciter des voyous en espérant de leur soutien afin de continuer à garder son poste.
