Seizièmes de finale Coupe du monde U17 : Le Maroc écarte les États-Unis, le Brésil passe dans la douleur
Morocco, the reigning African champions, have qualified for the round of 16 of the U17 World Cup. Trailing since the 21st minute against the United States, the Atlas Lions managed to equalize thanks to their young star Abdallah Ouazane, who scored a crucial goal in the 89th minute.
Reinvigorated by this equalizer snatched in the final seconds, Morocco finally prevailed in the penalty shootout, converting four attempts to three for their opponent.
After Mali, Morocco thus becomes the second African country to secure its place in the round of 16 of the U17 World Cup.
In other matches, Brazil eliminated Paraguay on penalties (0-0, 5-4 on penalties), but not without difficulty. In another all-Latin American clash, Mexico knocked out Argentina (2-2, 5-4 on penalties). Meanwhile, Ireland eliminated Canada after a particularly hard-fought shootout (1-1, 9-8 on penalties).
This Saturday, Senegal will face Uganda for a place in the round of 16.
