Sénégal–Égypte : « Chaque match a sa propre histoire », prévient Koulibaly
On the eve of the Africa Cup of Nations semi-final against Egypt, Senegal's captain, Kalidou Koulibaly, spoke at a press conference about his team's preparation and the essential role of Senegalese supporters in this competition.
Despite recent successes, the Lions' captain remains clear-headed and focused. "It's true that we won the AFCON final and the World Cup qualifying matches. But tomorrow will be different. Every match has its own story. We will respect Egypt while playing our own game," he said.
Kalidou Koulibaly also pointed out that Egypt has flown somewhat under the media radar but remains a very strong nation. "We've also had a great run, with confidence. It might be a tight match, but we'll try to score the goals that will qualify us for the final. The coach has given us some key points, and we're working on them," he added.
The captain then praised the exemplary behavior of the Senegalese fans during previous matches and their massive presence in Tangier. "We played against Egypt and things can always happen. But that's in the past. The fans were calm and respectful. They are the best fans of this AFCON, maybe even in the world," he stated.
He highlighted the spirit of fair play of the Senegalese fans and their integration into the host cities: "We saw videos where they cleaned the stadium. I didn't see any problems. Tangier is becoming a Senegalese city; you see supporters everywhere when you walk around. We would like to return the favor."
