Sénégal – Pérou : « Nous visons les 80 000 places »
Senegal faces Peru this Saturday, March 28, at the Stade de France. The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) is finalizing the last details of this unprecedented international event. In an interview with Les Échos, Bamba Ba, the federation's marketing manager, emphasized the historic significance of this first: an African governing body taking over the legendary stadium in Saint-Denis to promote Senegalese football on a global scale.
The enthusiasm has already exceeded all expectations. "We've already sold nearly 60,000 tickets," reveals Bamba Ba. Faced with the massive influx of supporters from all over Europe (Italy, Spain, Germany), the FSF is requesting authorization from the prefecture to open new areas and hopes to reach the maximum capacity of 80,000 seats.
The marketing manager clarifies any ambiguity: "The trophy will indeed be there. We will display it to celebrate our victory and mark the continuation of the trophy tour."
Beyond the pitch, an ambitious cultural component will transform this match into a true showcase of Senegalese identity. Icons Youssou Ndour and Baba Maal will headline, accompanied by the new generation such as Jeeba and Obree Daman. To comply with the stadium's technical constraints, the performances will be lip-synced, he explains.
Finally, the newspaper's interviewee justifies a tight schedule: the European tour for the trophy had to be shortened because the Lions have to return to Dakar immediately after the match to face Gambia the following Tuesday.
