Tunisie : Sabri Lamouchi nommé sélectionneur
The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) officially announced on Wednesday the appointment of Sabri Lamouchi as head coach of the Carthage Eagles. The former French international of Tunisian descent succeeds Sami Trabelsi, whose contract was terminated following Tunisia's early elimination from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The Tunisians were knocked out in the round of 16 by Mali, a defeat that precipitated the coach's departure.
Aged 54, Sabri Lamouchi has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract. This is his second experience as a national team coach. Between 2012 and 2014, he managed Ivory Coast, leading them to the quarterfinals of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations before being eliminated in the first round of the 2014 World Cup.
Now at the helm of the Tunisian national team, the Franco-Tunisian coach's main mission will be to revitalize the Eagles of Carthage. His first major objective will be to enable Tunisia to make a strong showing at the 2026 World Cup and achieve a respectable result. A new and ambitious adventure thus begins for Lamouchi, who is under intense scrutiny from Tunisian fans.
