Five-time world champions Brazil haven't really intimidated many people for the last twenty years or so. Perhaps this is due to generations of untalented players. To this day, no one has performed better than Ronaldo Nazario, Rivaldo, or Ronaldinho in this Brazilian national team.
Neymar and Vinicius are undoubtedly brimming with talent, but they have never managed to secure a sixth star for the nation. The Seleção has been content with mixed performances in the World Cup, as evidenced by their eliminations in the quarter-finals or semi-finals.
“Brazil – Senegal: Ancelotti awakens a monster”
Worse still, they are often beaten by teams that, in the past, would have trembled at the mere mention of their name. Their 2-3 defeat against Japan last October is still fresh in everyone's minds. The arrival of Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti at the helm of the Canarinhos might just restore Brazil to its former glory.
In any case, the recent friendly matches played by the Brazilian national team are encouraging. They notably beat Senegal (2-0) last Saturday in a friendly match. A victory widely commented on by South American and European sports dailies. AS, the Spanish newspaper, ran the headline: "Brazil – Senegal: Ancelotti awakens a monster."
For its part, Marca describes the Brazilian team as "Real Brazil", comparing Carletto's style to that of Real Madrid, under his leadership.
"Carletto has put Vinicius Jr in a false nine role, alongside Rodrygo, Estevao and Matheus Cunha."
"Ancelotti's Real Madrid is progressing satisfactorily in its preparations for the 2026 World Cup. At the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal's home ground, the team deployed its full attacking arsenal," the Spanish daily newspaper emphasized. It concluded by noting the Italian's tactical system, which allows Rodrygo and Vinicius to play together.
"Carletto has put Vinicius Jr in a false number 9 role, alongside Rodrygo, Estevao and Matheus Cunha... Under these conditions, Brazil will win almost every match," Marca assures.
