Transports : Les chauffeurs "Allo Dakar" invitent l'État à la régularisation du covoiturage
The national association of drivers "Allo Dakar" (Waar Gaïndé) of Senegal, through a press conference held in Thiès, wanted to thank all of its members from all garages in the country, for their "responsible behavior during the two weeks of strike by the road transport union of Senegal".
According to its president, Abdoulaye Ndiaye, "this difficult period has greatly impacted the population, depriving them of their right to move around in adequate conditions, especially our brothers and sisters in the Christian community, who have encountered enormous difficulties in celebrating Easter with their families."
They seized the opportunity to reiterate their appeal to the Senegalese government to regulate carpooling, as is the case in many other countries. They emphasized that "this sector is a significant driver of job creation and financial resources, supporting thousands of Senegalese families." According to Abdoulaye Ndiaye, "more than 50,000 young people work in it daily."
He believes that regulating this sector would also contribute to improving road safety by allowing operators to conduct their business within a legal framework, without stress or harassment. During this prolonged strike, Mr. Ndiaye and his colleagues emphasize, "the Senegalese people, as well as the public authorities, were able to appreciate the usefulness and efficiency of the 'Allo Dakar' transport services." "The quality of our services explains the trust that users place in us throughout the country," he says.
The national association of drivers "Allo Dakar" (Waar Gaïndé) of Senegal therefore reiterates to the President of the Republic, to the Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, as well as to their supervising minister, Yankhoba Diémé, its request for the regularization of their sector, for "the sustainable improvement of transport and the well-being of users".
