11ème congrès ordinaire du Sniepms : Les engagements de Mamadou Mbodj après sa reconduite à la tête du syndicat
Members of the National Union of Extractive Industries and Mining Exploration of Senegal (SNIEPMS) met in an ordinary congress this Saturday in Thiès to elect their leader.
In the presence of a delegation from the CNTS office headed by the national secretary general, Mody Guiro, they reappointed Mamadou Mbodj as head of the SNIEPMS for a 4-year term.
At the end of this congress, the latter announced that his objective and the priorities of his mandate are focused on the fight against the precariousness of workers in the mines and the denunciation of abusive exploitation by foreign mining companies.
According to Mamadou Mbodj, mine workers are often employed without stable contracts and without social security coverage.
The SNIEPMS secretary general emphasized that foreign mining companies ignore the Senegalese labor code. This is why they unfairly dismiss union representatives, despite the authorities' orders.
He also denounced the fact that these companies do not respect the decisions of labor inspectorates. He also noted the exclusion of qualified young Senegalese from direct recruitment in large mining companies.
To succeed in his mission at the helm of the SNIEPMS, Mamadou Mbodj has decided to prioritize dialogue with employers. He has thus asked the government to ensure transparency and protect the rights of Senegalese workers.
