Ousmane Sonko à Kaolack : "en trois ans, nous remettrons le Sénégal sur la voie du développement"
As Maouloud 2025 approaches, scheduled for September 4, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko paid a courtesy visit to Medina Baye, Kaolack, this Saturday, August 30, 2025, welcomed by the General Khalifa of Fayda Tidjanya, Cheikh Mouhamadoul Mahi Ibrahima Niass. Accompanied by a delegation including the Minister of Labor, Secretary of State Abib Ngom, Bacary Thior, Fadiilou Keïta, Talla Ndao and other officials, Sonko arrived in the religious city around 11:30 a.m.
Speaking, the head of government expressed his joy at being in Medina Baye, emphasizing his consistent commitment to religious leaders: "I have come here many times, both in opposition and in government, and my words of yesterday are those of today." He denounced the obstacles to Senegal's development, including "the lack of sovereignty, the failure to respect the nation's best interests, the poor management leading to embezzlement and poorly prioritized investments," criticisms he already made as an opponent.
Looking ahead, Sonko addressed the legacy of a heavy public debt, confirmed by the IMF, and called for a national commitment to rebuild the country: "We have a national challenge. If we follow our recommendations, in three years, we will put Senegal back on the path to development."
This visit, a few days before Gamou, illustrates the government's desire to strengthen ties with religious authorities to mobilize the vital forces around its transformation project.

Vous n'avez manifestement pas compris que le peuple vous a vomi. Vous avez aligné beaucoup trop de mensonges. Aussi, les sciences économiques, qui organisent la gestion du pouvoir, ne permettent pas de souscrire à votre thèse d'un déficit budgétaire à 3% en 3 ans. Enfin, abrogez la loi d'amnistie et criminalisez l'homosexualité comme vous l'avez publiquement promis au peuple sénégalais.
