Plan de circulation du Magal : La gendarmerie dévoile les interdictions et itinéraires recommandés
A few days before the Grand Magal of Touba 2025, the National Gendarmerie has unveiled the traffic arrangements that will govern this major religious event.
Squadron Leader Fallou Fall, commander of the Touba gendarmerie company, presented in a video the measures put in place to facilitate the influx of pilgrims.
A plan in effect from August 11 to 15, 2025
In accordance with the decree of the Prefect of the Mbacké department, the traffic plan will come into effect on August 11, 2025 at midnight and will end on August 15, 2025 at midnight. This system aims to guarantee the fluidity of traffic and the safety of the millions of pilgrims expected in the holy city.
Access routes to Touba according to origins
The gendarmerie detailed the different recommended routes according to the pilgrims' starting points:
For pilgrims from the North and Northeast:
- Linguère-Dahra-Touba axis
- Kébémer-Darou Mouhty-Touba axis via departmental road n°30
For those coming from the West:
- Diourbel-Mbacké-Touba axis with three specific options:
- Cross Mbacké, then 100 meters after the tourist camp, turn right towards the new road passing through Gawane-Darou Salam
- Continue past the tourist camp to the MK Excellence intersection (formerly Elton station)
- Take the ring road on the left at the intersection of the Touba Oil station (ex-Total) towards the heliport
For vehicles from the South East:
- Kaffrine-Mbacké-Touba axis via the RN1 then the R60 (Kaël road)
Special provisions for the Ila Touba highway
Users using the Ila Touba highway have two options:
- Head towards Thiawéne and take the road passing in front of the gendarmerie company towards the heliport, or turn around towards the RN3 towards Mbacké
- Continue towards the Touba Fall roundabout to reach Touba via the Janatou road or go down towards the Touba Njarem roundabout
Formal prohibitions
To ensure safety and smooth traffic flow, several strict bans have been issued:
- Circulation of low-cost vehicles on paved roads within Touba
- Traffic of heavy goods vehicles on the Ila Touba highway
- Use of emergency stopping lanes, exclusively reserved for intervention, rescue or distress vehicles
It is also specified that vehicles cannot use the roads connecting Ngabou to the Touba Fall roundabout via national road no. 3.
Safety recommendations
The gendarmerie reminds us of the importance of respecting the highway code, in particular:
- Mandatory wearing of seat belts
- Wearing a helmet for motorcyclists
- Strict compliance with road regulations
