The Tera-meeting and the “Niakhtou national,” two political rallies organized by the Pastef party and the opposition, are scheduled to take place in a few hours. The first will be held in the parking lot of the Léopold Sédar Senghor stadium, while the second will be held at the Sacré-Cœur 3 grounds. On this occasion, citizens shared their opinions on these two events and on the country's political situation.

Student Ndiaga Lô expressed his support for the Tera-meeting and for Ousmane Sonko, whom he considers an unparalleled leader. According to him, the Tera-meeting is a major gathering for patriots.

“Our leader Ousmane Sonko has messages to deliver to us. We have always wanted this gathering. Those who are against it are dissatisfied people, people who do not want to make an effort to earn a living. The problem is neither Sonko nor Macky Sall, but the fact that some Senegalese do not want to work. They like the easy way out,” he confides.

Ndiaga Lô also believes that the opposition's "national Niakhtou" (a term referring to a political movement or initiative) is pointless and will fail. In his view, the opposition "carries no weight against Sonko" and he considers that "there is almost no opposition left" in the country.

The bricklayer, Alassane Kandji, believes the government is on the right track. According to him, "those who want to work can do so with dignity." He considers the criticisms leveled at the regime to be often unfounded, noting that "the state cannot create jobs for everyone." He emphasizes the importance of every citizen contributing to national development. He says he is not in favor of the "National Niakhtou," which he sees as a gathering without any real purpose.

Moussa Ndiaye, a businessman by profession, describes himself as apolitical. Nevertheless, he shares the concerns of many Senegalese regarding the country's economic challenges. According to him, "the current regime has brought no changes since coming to power" and "there has been no break with the past."

Moussa Ndiaye believes that Senegalese people don't need Tera-meeting or a "national Niakhtou" (a term referring to a specific type of protest or event), as they are more concerned about the high cost of living. He denounces the high cost of fuel and electricity, which has become "unsustainable for many households."

"Senegal is in the phase of exploiting oil and gas. It is crucial that the revenues generated by these resources benefit citizens more," he argues.

He also addressed the difficulties of the healthcare system, stressing that "many people still live in precarious conditions due to a failing healthcare system."

Regarding governance, he calls for "fairer and more transparent management," as well as national unity that transcends political divisions. Moussa Ndiaye concludes by inviting political parties to organize national consultations to collectively develop concrete solutions for the country's future.
