Tournée économique à Ziguinchor : Bassirou Diomaye Faye porte l’enveloppe de l’Agropole Sud à 109 milliards de FCFA
President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye launched the expansion works of the Southern Agropole in Baghagha, in the municipality of Adéane (Niaguis district). During his economic tour of the Ziguinchor region, the Head of State took a significant step towards revitalizing the Casamance economy by nearly doubling the project's initial budget.

After praising the work undertaken in this economic hub, the Head of State announced a dramatic increase in funding, from 57 to 109 billion CFA francs. This increase aims to guarantee not only processing but also sustained agricultural production.

A paradigm shift: priority to production
“When we arrived, the Southern Agropole was designed for an amount of 57 billion, focused mainly on storage and processing infrastructure. We considered that in order to run these factories at full time, sustained production is necessary to support the availability of raw materials,” explained the President.

For 2026, the government plans to inject 41 billion CFA francs through the finance law to support this new momentum. Simultaneously, the Agropole Centre will benefit from an investment of 50 billion CFA francs over the same period.

An urgent appeal to the private sector
President Faye urged businesses to embrace this ambitious project: “The conditions are in place in terms of infrastructure and the social framework. You have living spaces that include nurseries, restaurants, gyms, and places of worship. Now it is up to businesses to seize this opportunity to take advantage of Casamance’s potential.”

Objective: To process 60% of local production
The stated ambition of the Government, through the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is to achieve a transformation rate of 60% of production within the Agropole.

“We are not talking about current production, but about production that will be boosted by massive investments in promoting the agro-industrial potential of Casamance. The conditions are now in place for sustainable investment,” concluded Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye.
