Midfielder Babacar Gueye scored and set up another to help Senegal defeat Norway 2-1 in an international friendly in Dakar on Wednesday.
Gueye, who plays in France with Metz,
created the opening goal after 20 minutes when he picked out Moussa Ndiaye and the striker fired past keeper Thomas Myhre.
The Teranga Lions, lacking half a dozen European-based players including Bolton Wanderers' injured striker El Hadji Diouf, kept up the pressure on the visitors.
Gueye's Metz team-mate Dino Djiba narrowly missed with a shot from the right, grazing the side of the netting, and shortly after Frederic Mendy of Saint-Etienne blasted over.
After 35 minutes, Gueye took the ball up the middle of the pitch, beating challenges from two red shirts to slot the ball past Myhre and extend Senegal's lead.
Although the hosts had the upper hand, Norway kept their composure and were rewarded five minutes before the break when Eric Hagen headed in from a corner.
