The educational community of Djinaky, in the department of Bignona, has been in mourning since Monday, March 18, 2025. A second-year student at the local high school drowned in the village's backwater, located in the Kataba district.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m., according to local news site Sud 7. The news quickly spread within the community and the high school. Ibrahima Mané, a student in Seconde L'A at the Lycée de Djinaky and originally from Karongue, lost his life in front of a classmate in 6th grade at the CEM in the same commune. Despite the latter's efforts to help him, young Ibrahima could not be saved.

Alerted, the Bignona firefighters intervened to retrieve the teenager's lifeless body, which was then transferred to the Diouloulou morgue. This tragedy plunged the community into dismay, leaving behind a grieving family and school.
