Indemnité de logement : certains enseignants touchent entre 80 000 et 100 000, d’autres… 15 000 F CFA
Members of the Democratic Union of Secular Private School Teachers (UDEPL) are angry. They can no longer bear receiving a housing allowance of 15,000 CFA francs while their colleagues in the public and Catholic private sectors receive between 80,000 and 100,000.
They consider this situation "humiliating" and plan to dig up the hatchet against the employers of secular private education. "Strikes, marches, press conferences, questioning state authorities and mobilizing public opinion are among the options being considered," threatens a union member in comments reported by Les Échos.
The latter points out that his comrades have "shown patience and responsibility." "Now," the unionist continues, "it is time to take action. The fight has only just begun."
One of his colleagues insists: "How can a teacher rent a house in Dakar or Thiès for 15,000 CFA francs a month? It's a social aberration and a form of institutionalized contempt."
