Divorce : Akon refuse catégoriquement de verser toute pension alimentaire à son epouse après 29 ans de mariage
Senegalese-American rapper and businessman Akon is embroiled in a bitter divorce battle. According to new court documents obtained by TMZ, the star is refusing to pay any alimony to his wife, Tomeka.
Tomeka, who filed for divorce in September, had requested spousal support. However, in his response filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Akon checked a box specifically requesting the cancellation of any spousal support payments in his favor.
Similarly, Tomeka had also asked the court not to grant financial support to Akon, indicating that both parties clearly wish to protect their respective finances in this separation after 29 years of marriage.
The couple share a 17-year-old child, and custody is also a point of contention. Akon has requested joint physical custody of their child. Tomeka, for her part, is seeking joint legal custody but wants full physical custody.
This divorce isn't the only obstacle the star has faced recently. TMZ revealed last week that Akon was arrested in Georgia for failing to appear in court in a case involving driving with a suspended license.
