Lutte contre l’insécurité à Dakar : Vaste opération de la gendarmerie dans la zone de Sangalkam
The Sangalkam territorial brigade, supported by two squadrons of the Dakar Gendarmerie Intervention Legion (LGI), under the command of Colonel Malick Faye, two dog teams and two cells of the National Gendarmerie Intervention Group (GIGN), conducted a large-scale operation on the night of September 12 to 13, 2025, between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. The targeted areas were mainly Kounoune, Sangalkam and Keur Ndiaye Lo, often confronted with burglaries and other criminal acts.
The deployment achieved notable results, with 128 vehicles checked, including five immobilized for various offenses; nine motorcycles subject to inspection; 108 people checked, including 20 arrested for identification; eight driving licenses seized; a bag containing white powder abandoned by a suspected trafficker; 51,000 CFA francs in fixed fines collected.
The gendarmerie calls for citizen collaboration
According to Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye, spokesperson for the National Gendarmerie, these operations aim to strengthen the security of people and their property in the Dakar region. He also urged the public to actively cooperate with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activity by calling the gendarmerie's freephone call center at 123 or 800 00 20 20.
