In Benin, the days go by and the bad news comes one after another. After the Minister of Secondary Education Yves Kouaro Chabi died last week in a road accident, it is the turn of the prefect of Zou Firmin Aimé Kouton, to turn his back on life in an equally unexpected manner.

Indeed, according to the newspaper "Le Matinal", the man was struck down by a heart attack yesterday, Tuesday February 25, 2025 while he was attending a meeting at the Ministry of the Interior with his other prefect colleagues.

They tried in vain to bring him back to life

The Minister of Decentralization and Local Governance was present at this meeting.

When the incident occurred, the firefighters, contacted, quickly went to the scene to take the unfortunate man to the National University Hospital Center of Cotonou (CNHU). Before his admission to this establishment, he gave up the ghost. The emergency doctors, not wanting to believe it, tried in vain to bring him back to life.

Mr. Kouton had been the prefect of Zou (South Benin department) since June 2016, a few months after President Patrice Talon came to power.
