À Diamniadio, l’Afrique trace la voie d’une révolution alimentaire par l’innovation

On September 1, 2025, Diamniadio established itself as the political and agricultural capital of the continent; with the opening of the African Food Systems Forum, chaired by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye alongside his Rwandan counterpart, Paul Kagame. More than 6,000 participants from 80 countries gathered to discuss ways to drive a fundamental overhaul of African food systems to align them with the continent's sovereignty and security.

The 2025 edition is distinguished by its operational focus. It marks a turning point towards the implementation of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) 2026–2035, with a roadmap that combines technological innovation, private investment, and social inclusion. Agricultural drones, digital traceability platforms, improved seeds, and financing geared toward women and young entrepreneurs are becoming strategic tools for reshaping the agricultural value chain.

This forum is not limited to an exchange of ideas. It seeks to embody a concrete shift towards more productive, resilient, and competitive agriculture. The discussions highlight the need for continental integration of food markets, increased mobilization of African and international capital, and strong political support to create an environment conducive to innovation.

Through this meeting, Africa demonstrates its desire to regain control of its food destiny. The Diamniadio forum thus becomes a showcase for a continent that no longer wants to be content with responding to crises, but aspires to anticipate, innovate, and build sustainable agricultural sovereignty.
