The hunting trip ended in tragedy. A 59-year-old American tourist was killed by a buffalo he was stalking during a hunt in South Africa. The lifeless body of this man from Dallas in the US state of Texas was found on Sunday, August 3, near the town of Makhado, in the north of the country. "The deceased had injuries to the stomach and sides ," a spokesperson for the Limpopo provincial police said in a statement sent to AFP on Friday, August 8.
"After further investigation ," it emerged that "the person had been injured by the buffalo he was hunting and that the buffalo in question was also lying nearby with a bullet in its body ," Limpopo provincial police said.
These animals can weigh up to more than 800 kilos and are part of the "big five", the most massive mammals prized by photographers and hunting trophy enthusiasts.
International hunting tourism generates $169 million annually for South Africa, according to a study published last month by the local North West University. "International hunters, often wealthy retirees from the United States," spend an average of $32,663 (about €28,000), including accommodation, living expenses, and trophies.

Le retour de bâton a été fatal pour lui.
Il n'a eu que ce qu' il merite.
Ce type de chasse, à la recherche de trophé, et de " gloire" doit être interdite sur notre continent.
