The president of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fécafoot), Samuel Eto'o, is reportedly accused of having received into a personal account the sum of 455,000 euros paid by the Russian Football Federation for the organization of a friendly match in October 2023 between Cameroon and Russia.

The case is the subject of a complaint filed by Guibai Gatama, a member of the FECAFOOT Executive Committee, with the Ethics Commission. He accuses Samuel Eto'o, former national team coordinator Benoît Angbwa, and former secretary general Blaise Djounang of corruption and embezzlement.

According to the defense, the transfer was approved by the Executive Committee, justified by the geopolitical context of the time, and the money was then transferred to an official FECAFOOT account.

This comes as Samuel Eto'o's term at the helm of the federation approaches its end.
