Guinée-Bissau : un nouveau gouvernement sous Braima Camará à l’approche des élections
The President of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, Army General and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, announced on August 10, 2025, the composition of the new government led by Prime Minister Braima Camará, three months before the presidential election scheduled for November 23, 2025. The nomination and swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for August 11 at 4 p.m., according to a note from the Bissau-Guinean presidency.
This government has 26 ministers and 11 secretaries of state, of which only three are women among the ministers: Maria do Céu Silva Monteiro (Justice and Human Rights), Maria da Conceição Évora (Social Communication) and Mónica Buaro da Costa (Public Administration, Employment, Vocational Training and Social Security). Among the 11 secretaries of state, three women are also appointed: Salomé Santos Allouche (Planning and Regional Integration), Josefina Ricardo Gomes Soares da Gama (Hospital Management) and Nancy Raisa Cardoso (Culture).
Political context
Recall that on August 7, 2025, President Embaló dismissed the government of Rui Duarte de Barros, appointing Braima Camará, former coordinator of the Madem G15 party, as the new Prime Minister on the same day. This decision comes amidst political tensions ahead of general elections.
