Le groupe EBOMAF de l’homme d’affaires burkinabé Bonkoungou, "renvoyé" des eaux gabonaises
The romance between the EBOMAF group and Gabon's National Inland and International Navigation Company (CNNII) has come to an end. The state-owned company announced the end of its collaboration with the Burkinabe multinational yesterday, Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
The statement did not specify the reasons for the divorce. The company simply stated that the separation was finalized after a "joint and calm assessment." It reflects the desire of both parties to "refocus their strategic priorities" while respecting past commitments. EBOMAF had been set to manage CNNII for several decades.
There will be no impact on business continuity or the quality of services offered.
What happened that caused the two entities to turn their backs on each other after seven months of collaboration? Perhaps one day we'll find out. The national airline was accumulating heavy debt to its suppliers and unpaid salaries. It's unclear whether EBOMAF improved its indicators in seven months of management.
In the press release announcing its separation from the private Burkinabe group, it stated that it will continue its modernization projects in compliance with standards, user expectations, and the national strategy. There will be no impact on business continuity or the quality of services offered to users, it added.
CNNII primarily handles maritime traffic between Libreville and Port-Gentil. EBOMAF delivered a vessel to it in February 2025, just before taking over the order.
