This week, the Senegalese Rural Electrification Agency (ASER) connected 17 villages as part of the pilot phase of a rural electrification program targeting 40 localities. Although the initial partnership with AEE POWER EPC was suspended by the authorities, the initiative continues to pursue its goals of social and economic transformation by facilitating access to education, healthcare, and rural entrepreneurship.
Electricity becomes a catalyst for opportunity. Schools can operate longer, health centers improve their services, and local microenterprises can leverage energy-intensive facilities that were previously inaccessible. This approach also helps curb rural exodus by increasing the attractiveness of villages and their ability to generate local income.
Beyond the technical aspects, the project demonstrates the relevance of progressive planning adapted to local realities. The selection of pilot villages takes into account social and economic needs, allowing for maximum impact before expanding the program across the country.
This pilot phase represents a turning point for rural electrification in Senegal. Each light bulb lit represents not only material progress, but also a promise of economic and social inclusion, placing universal access to energy at the heart of Vision 2050.

phase pilote...
