Senegalese journalist Moussa Thiam, from the private radio station Sud FM, was unanimously elected president of the Association of Water and Sanitation Journalists in Africa (AJEA) on Tuesday, February 18, in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. This election was held on the sidelines of the 22nd International Congress of the African Water and Sanitation Association (AAEA).
The event, which takes place from February 16 to 20 in the Ugandan capital, brings together journalists from different countries on the continent such as Malawi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Togo, Uganda and Senegal.
The AAEA International Congress and Exhibition is a major platform for water sector stakeholders, bringing together professionals, companies and specialist operators. This annual event has become a benchmark in the calendar of stakeholders in the sector.
Created to unite initiatives in the areas of drinking water, sanitation and the environment, the AAEA brings together more than 237 members, including 100 public operators spread across more than 40 African countries. The organization's mission is to respond to the growing challenges of access to water and sanitation, crucial issues for the continent's development.
