Robert Bourgi : "C’est le corps du président Biya que l’on présente à la (Présidentielle au Cameroun), ce n’est pas lui"
In Cameroon, 92-year-old President Paul Biya will seek a new seven-year term. This candidacy is not unanimous in the country, especially since the leader's main opponent, Maurice Kamto, has been ruled out of the presidential race next October.
Robert Bourgi, who follows current events in the oil-rich nation, recently said on a YouTube channel that it was time for the old president to go.
"How can you imagine that a 92-year-old man can campaign?"
"It's Paul Biya's body that's being presented and that will present itself. It's not him who's presenting himself. President Paul Biya, I'm not a doctor, I'm not a professor of medicine, but he's extremely diminished. How can you imagine a 92-year-old man being able to campaign? First, he would have to be able to move. He moves with difficulty. It's age. It was time to go," said the Franco-Lebanese lawyer and political advisor.
For him, there are "valid people in Cameroon" who can succeed the patriarch.
