Ardo
This Wednesday, March 26, Ardo Gningue was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended, by the Dakar Court of Flagrant Offences. The young activist was found guilty of comments contrary to public morality. The prosecution had requested a six-month prison sentence, three of which would be suspended, but the court opted for a heavier suspended sentence, accompanied by a fine of 200,000 CFA francs. After about ten days in detention, Ardo Gningue was thus released.
His arrest stemmed from a social media post in which he addressed the public prosecutor in terms deemed disrespectful.
