Sidi Kota et Sartorisen : Frapp dénonce un scandale social et environnemental
The Front for a Popular and Pan-African Anti-Imperialist Revolution (Frapp) held a press conference at its headquarters this Tuesday, September 16, in an urgent and straightforward manner.
The members denounced the blatant injustices suffered by the people of Sidi Kota and the workers of Sartorisen (Diamniado's haute couture company) in what is now perceived as "a social and environmental scandal."
The Fabri-Métal factory (in Sidi Kota) continues to emit toxic fumes, nauseating gases, and liquid discharges into the environment. Local residents report recurring cases of respiratory illnesses, intense noise pollution, and the gradual deterioration of their living environment.
The movement has pointed to the serious pollution caused by the plant, which is endangering the health of local residents. Despite government inspections confirming the malfunctions, no concrete measures have yet been implemented.
Guy Marius Sagna clarified that this situation had been submitted to the head of government, Ousmane Sonko.
"The government's response regarding the Fabri-Métal factory was made public on July 16, 2025. Following this, the factory's management wanted to meet me to visit it. All that remains is to make the appointment a reality," he said.
"We are struggling to live in these conditions, our children constantly have coughs and breathing problems, we are begging the state to intervene," stressed the group's representative, Mamadou Niang Gueye.
Furthermore, workers at the Sartorisen factory are living a real ordeal, with 13 months of unpaid wages, a situation that Frapp describes as economic slavery.
"I express my full solidarity with the Sartorisen workers and we will take drastic measures to ensure this situation no longer exists. We call on companies to respect the labor code and workers' rights," Mr. Sagna insisted.
The movement demanded immediate formal notice from Fabri-Métal with the suspension of its activities if environmental standards are not respected and a public demonstration is planned for the workers' demands.
