Casino du Port et Café de Rome : la guerre des associés, 2,5 milliards F CFA au cœur du clash
The partnership between Jacob Attal and Antoine Rahal, co-owners of the Casino du Port and the Café de Rome, is on the verge of collapse. The two men, longtime business allies, are now facing off before the Dakar Commercial Court.
On July 30, at the request of Antoine Rahal, the president of the court authorized a precautionary seizure of Jacob Attal's assets, resulting in the freezing of several of his personal bank accounts, rewinds Libération, which provides the information.
The dispute, the same source explains, stems from a claim of 2.5 billion CFA francs that Antoine Rahal claims against his partner in connection with a real estate development contract between the Senegalese SCI La Téranga and the Gorée View Sarl company. This contract provided for the construction of a 15- to 16-story building at a total cost of 10.8 billion.
But on Jacob Attal's side, the newspaper continues, the defense points out that this obligation falls solely on the SCI La Téranga sénégalaise - 99% owned by Today Sénégal SA, a joint company of the two partners through their respective holding companies - and not on Attal personally.
According to this line of defense, completes Libération, Antoine Rahal cannot demand from his partner a payment which is the exclusive responsibility of the company, and only after the funds have actually been collected by the SCI.
