Cité Fayçal: these ministers, DG and magistrates threatened with expulsion

Faycal

The State Built Heritage Management and Exploitation Company (Sogepa) is calling on the 52 families who consider themselves owners of the villas in the Fayçal estate to vacate the houses. The reason given is that the long-term leases that make them the beneficiaries of these dwellings are illegal.

AS, which took an interest in the subject for its edition of Monday March 10, reports that Sogepa recalls that a "transaction on the built heritage of the State is subject to a law to be voted on by the National Assembly and not to a decree as is the case in this so-called Fayçal city affair."

The newspaper reveals that several ministers, DGs, magistrates and other senior officials, former or in office, are concerned. The source cites the current Minister of Justice, Ousmane Diagne, the former Secretary General of the Presidency Maxime Jean Simon Ndiaye, the former Secretary General of the Government Ousmane Ndiaye, the former DGs Cheikh Issa Sall, Maguette Sène, Aliou Sall, the former ministers Khouraichi Thiam, Kansoumbaly Ndiaye, Abdoulaye Élimane Kane, a former Vice-President of the Constitutional Council, in particular.

The AS recalls that it was former President Abdoulaye Wade who, in 2008, signed the decree confirming the sale of the villas in question.

The beneficiaries must move before next August. They have formed a collective to oppose this measure which they consider "unfair" in a letter of protest addressed to Sogepa with a copy to the President of the Republic.
