Kédougou /Lutte contre le trafic de drogue : Saisies record de la Brigade régionale des stupéfiants en sept mois

The Kédougou Regional Narcotics Brigade has struck a major blow in the fight against drug and illegal substance trafficking. In just seven months of intensive operations, investigators seized a significant quantity of illicit substances and prohibited goods, primarily in gold mining areas in the region, particularly in Bantaco.

The operations made it possible to withdraw from circulation

  1. 3,216 tablets of psychotropic substances, including 2,001 of tramadol, 1,200 of tapentadol and 16 of diazepam;
  2. 2 kilograms of Indian hemp and 150 cones ready for sale;
  3. 62 “kepas” of kush, a particularly potent cannabis strain;
  4. 55 kilograms of anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving drugs;
  5. 1,600 packets of prohibited brand cigarettes.

These seizures are the result of a series of targeted operations in sensitive areas, particularly gold mining sites where a significant portion of this trafficking is concentrated. In total, 22 cases were recorded during the period, with 35 people arrested, including 11 Senegalese and a majority of foreigners.

The authorities welcome these results, which demonstrate the determination of law enforcement to wipe out criminal networks in the region. This fight is part of a broader strategy aimed at protecting populations from the devastating effects of drugs and prohibited substances.
