Thiénaba : une dispute familiale vire au pugilat, deux frères condamnés
In Thiénaba, a family quarrel escalated. A. Dieng, furious to learn that his child had been disciplined by his sister-in-law, A. Mbaye, violently beat her. In retaliation, she called on her brothers, S. and M. Mbaye, who had come from Chérif Lô. They beat Dieng severely, sending her to the hospital with a 10-day temporary incapacity for work, L'Observateur reported in its Friday edition.
"They beat me until I fainted and they were going to kill me without the intervention of others," the civil party accuses, as quoted by the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group.
Prosecuted for assault and battery, the two brothers denied the charges before the Thiès court. The judge ultimately sentenced them to a suspended fine of 50,000 CFA francs, along with the payment of 200,000 CFA francs in damages to A. Dieng.
The magistrate thus wanted to punish the violence, while reminding A. Dieng, who was demanding 800,000 CFA francs in compensation, of the consequences of his own actions towards a woman, notes the same source, who attended the hearing.
