Touba : Le Gouverneur exige l'arrêt des constructions non conformes suite à un effondrement mortel
Following the collapse of a building under construction that killed three people and injured two others in the Darou Miname neighborhood of Touba, the Governor of Diourbel, Ibrahima Fall, visited the scene of the disaster on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, to assess the situation and express his compassion to the population. According to the authorities, it is a four-story building under construction (R+4).
"I was alerted to the collapse of an unoccupied four-story building (R+4), which caused damage to a neighboring house. The provisional report states that two injured people were evacuated to Matlaboul Fawzeyni Hospital and three lifeless bodies. We went there, accompanied by the prefect of Mbacké, the sub-prefect of Ndame and the mayor of Touba, to, on behalf of the central authorities, assess the situation and express our compassion to the population as well as to the general caliph of the Mourides," Ibrahima Fall told the press.
The Governor of Diourbel believes that the first step in combating this scourge is to suspend all construction that does not comply with standards. "I believe that concrete measures should be taken, in collaboration with the municipality of Touba Mosque. The first recommendation is to halt all construction that has not complied with regulatory procedures. It is also necessary to discuss this with the General Caliph of the Mourides to organize, in conjunction with the technical services, building inspection missions to prevent such tragedies in the future," he announced.
