Afrobasket-2025 masculin : Jean-Jacques Boissy bat un record vieux 16 ans
Senegal finished Afrobasket 2025 in third place, a rather successful collective performance for the Lions. Beyond this result, certain individuals particularly stood out, like Jean-Jacques Boissy.
Indeed, the Senegalese point guard scored 40 points in the bronze medal match, won by Senegal against Cameroon (98-72), this Sunday in Luanda. In doing so, he broke the record for the most points scored in an Afrobasket match, held since 2009 by Cape Verdean Jeff Xavier (38 points).
Thanks to this exceptional performance, Senegal won its seventh bronze medal in the history of the competition (1983, 1989, 1993, 2013, 2017, 2021 and 2025), the third consecutive after 2017 and 2021.
Boissy thus becomes the first player in the history of men's Afrobasket to score so many points in a match. His feat erases the previous record set by Jeff Xavier during Cape Verde's victory (100-63) against DR Congo, at Afrobasket-2009 in Libya.
Already winner and best player of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) 2025 with Al Ahli Tripoli, Jean-Jacques Boissy confirms his status as a superstar of African basketball.
