CHAN-2024 : Le Maroc crucifie la RD Congo et file en quarts de finale
Morocco, the big favorite at the CHAN, has qualified for the quarter-finals. In the Group A "final," the Atlas Lions beat the Leopards of DR Congo 3-1.
In this duel between the two most successful nations in the competition, the Moroccans quickly opened the scoring thanks to Lamliou (7th). A few minutes before the break, the Congolese came back into the game, through the veteran Kitambala (36 years old), who equalized on a cross from Ibrahim Matobo (43rd).
In the second half, despite Congolese domination, Morocco was awarded a penalty converted by Rabie Hrimat (70th). Completely stunned, the Leopards conceded a third goal, scored by Lamliou (80th), which dashed their last hopes.
Morocco thus finished in 2nd place in the group (9 pts), behind Kenya (10 pts), winner of Zambia (1-0).
