Clap Ivoire célèbre ses 25 ans et honore quatre acteurs du cinéma africain
To mark the 25th anniversary of Clap Ivoire, four major figures in Ivorian and African cinema were recognized for their crucial role in the creation, growth and sustainability of this festival, which has now become an essential event for young audiovisual talents.
These recognition awards were given to Nana Kadjija Toumagnon (Mali), Honoré N'Zué, Akafou Bertin and Augustin Kassi, all praised for their singular contribution to the history of Clap Ivoire.
Nana Khadija Toumagnon, promoter of Brico Film, was honored for her unwavering support since the festival's inception. A loyal ally and committed advocate, she has been involved with Clap Ivoire from its very beginnings, contributing to its expansion beyond Ivorian borders.
Director Honoré N'Zué was celebrated for propelling the festival into the institutional sphere. By transferring it to the Ministry of Culture, through the CIVCA which he headed, he laid the foundations for the national Clap Ivoire festival. A decisive gesture, worthy of a true "father" of the program.
A passionate creator, Akafou Bertin received an award as a founding father. It was he who, starting from a simple film club, laid the foundations of what would become one of the essential events for African short films.
Finally, the painter Augustin Kassi was recognized for a visual legacy that has become legendary: the Clap Ivoire logo. His famous "voluptuous lady" has been associated with the event for twenty-five years and remains its instantly recognizable symbol.
By honoring these four builders, Clap Ivoire celebrates not only their journeys, but also a shared vision: to promote African cinema and give a space for expression to young creators on the continent.
