The merit, effort and perseverance of 367 valiant students, the best in the commune of Ngoundiane (department of Thiès), were rewarded this weekend, on the occasion of the 2025 edition of the celebration of the coronation of excellence initiated by the Municipal Council.

The ceremony, recalls the deputy mayor Mbaye Dione, aims to honor "academic excellence and recognize the essential contribution of the educational community to the development of our commune."

"For over ten years, we've been organizing the Festival of Excellence to recognize the best students in the community, from first grade to final year," recalls Mbaye Sarr, deputy mayor of Ngoundiane. A good opportunity, he says, to re-engage students and the entire educational community, to get the school year off to a good start.

According to him, there is a significant investment being made in Ngoundiane, in the field of education. And, he says, in terms of results, the city is performing very well at the departmental and regional levels, whether it be entry into 6th grade, the CFEE, the BFM or the Baccalaureate, and all of this still deserves that these students and their teachers be congratulated, encouraged, and that parents also be made aware so that they are better aware of the educational reality and can continue to supervise the students.

In Ngoundiane, this year, no less than 100 million CFA francs were invested in education, including 60 million CFA francs allocated to operating costs. The investment, for its part, consists of the repair of desks and benches, the acquisition of new desks and benches, as well as the construction of classrooms, not to mention the opening of a new middle school. Mayor Mbaye Dione announced the construction of a fourth CEM in the northern part of the commune, which would mean that in Ngoundiane, no more than 100 students will have to travel more than 3 km to reach a middle school. This is not counting the school buses to transport students.

Mbaye Sarr recalls that "367 students, from grades 1 to 12, from the 22 elementary, middle, and high schools in Ngoundiane, received awards. For entry into 6th grade, for example, at least 5 primary schools achieved 100%. Today, hundreds of young people from Ngoundiane arrive at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar. In Dakar alone, we have two apartments for students, one in Saint-Louis, Ziguinchor, Kaffrine, and even in Touba, today, for students coming from Al Hazard." Indicators that show that the results reflect the investments that have been made.
