Kédougou : des performances record pour la subdivision régionale des Douanes en 2025

The Kédougou regional Customs subdivision shows remarkable results for the year 2025, both in terms of revenue mobilization and in the fight against illicit trafficking and transnational organized crime.

Placed under the command of the first Customs Inspector, Diame Diakhaté, the subdivision relies on four functional brigades — Kédougou, Saraya, Salémata and the commercial brigade of Moussala — while the Sabodala brigade remains, for the time being, non-functional.

A sharp increase in litigation revenue

In terms of revenue from disputes, the performance reflects an intensification of control operations and the repression of customs offenses. In 2025, the subdivision collected over 640,176,850 CFA francs, compared to 221,959,850 CFA francs in 2024.

This increase represents a spectacular capital gain of 418,217,000 CFA francs, almost triple the results of the previous year.

These figures demonstrate the effectiveness of the brigades in detecting fraud, illicit trafficking and offenses related to economic activities, particularly in gold mining and border areas that are especially exposed.

Ordinary revenues also increased

Ordinary revenues are also on the rise. They reached 317,788,270 CFA francs in 2025, compared to 254,192,054 CFA francs in 2024, representing an increase of 63,596,216 CFA francs.

This progress confirms the rigor in the application of customs procedures, the regularity of controls and the strengthening of the presence of brigades in the field.

A sustained fight against trafficking and dangerous products

Beyond financial performance, the Kédougou regional Customs subdivision distinguished itself through intense activity in the fight against transnational organized crime and environmental protection.

Numerous seizures were made of particularly sensitive and dangerous products, including:

• contraband cigarettes,

• sulfuric acid,

• cyanide,

• explosives,

• mercury,

• prohibited plastic bags, among other things.

These products, often linked to illegal gold mining and cross-border trafficking networks, represent serious risks to public safety, public health and the environment.

A strategic presence in a sensitive area

Located in a region marked by mining activity, proximity to borders and the movement of sensitive goods, the Kédougou Customs subdivision plays a strategic role in the economic and environmental security of the territory.

The results recorded in 2025 thus reflect an increase in the operational capabilities of the brigades and a sustained commitment of agents in the field.

In view of these performances, the regional subdivision of Customs in Kédougou stands out as an essential link in the national system for combating illicit trafficking while also contributing significantly to the mobilization of public resources.
