Bignona : Le G7 durcit le ton après l'agression d'un surveillant par des Kankourangs dans les Kalounayes

The education system in the Bignona department is experiencing a period of great turmoil. The G7, a coalition of the main teachers' unions (CUSEMS, SAEMSS, SELS, UDEN, SNELAS-FC, SIEN, CUSEMS-A), is maintaining pressure on the authorities following yet another attack that occurred on Monday, January 19th in Souda. The victim, a supervisor working in the Kalounayes area, was attacked by individuals wearing Kankourang masks, an act that has sparked outrage within the educational community.

In immediate reaction to this incident, the general secretaries of the G7 in Bignona had decreed a total strike on January 20 and 21.

At the same time, a formal order was given to all teachers stationed in the Kalounayes area to leave their places of service until further notice to guarantee their physical safety.

In a recent statement, the union collective commended the exceptional mobilization of teachers in the department, while deploring the fact that some schools continued operating despite safety guidelines. "The support for the assaulted colleague was exceptional. However, we have consistent reports that some schools operated despite the insecurity and the unions' call to close. Be aware that no one is safe," the organization warned.

Although the general strike has ended, the order to withdraw from work remains strictly in effect for staff assigned to the Kalounayes. The G7 justifies this continued action by citing the lack of concrete measures taken by the authorities to protect employees from what it describes as "targeted and organized" attacks.

An evaluation meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 26, 2026, to analyze the evolution of the situation and decide on the next steps to take regarding this protest movement which is paralyzing education in this part of the department.
