The National School of Arts and Cultural Professions (ENAMC) has undertaken a major reform of its training system to align its curricula with the Bachelor's-Master's-Doctorate (LMD) system and improve the status of the teachers it trains. This direction was the focus of a consultation meeting bringing together FASTEF, the Ministries of Public Service, National Education, and Higher Education, as well as social partners.

According to the Director General of ENAMC, Cheikh Aboubekr Thiam, this reform aims to evolve the current training, at Bac+4 level, towards a Bac+5, in order to allow future teachers to obtain a master's degree and access the A hierarchy of the Civil Service upon leaving the school.

"The idea is to conform to the LMD system, with a bachelor's degree, a master's degree and prospects for access to a doctorate. We are also working on revising the curricula and the status of teachers, in close collaboration with FASTEF and the relevant ministries," explained the director general.

For Cheikh Aboubekr Thiam, this reform will put an end to the hybrid nature of the current status of ENAMC graduates, based on a Bac+3 with a probationary year, and ensure better academic and administrative recognition of teachers from the institution.

For his part, Professor Mamadou Dramé, assessor at FASTEF, emphasized that his institution will support ENAMC in revising its curricula, extending the duration of training, and developing new educational collaborations. The two institutions intend, in particular, to pool their expertise in areas such as educational psychology, educational technology, and microteaching.

FASTEF also plans to support ENAMC teachers in pursuing their master's and doctoral studies, in order to strengthen the academic skills of the teaching staff.

Through this reform, ENAMC aims to sustainably modernize the training of teachers in arts and culture, while harmonizing their status with that of their counterparts trained in other higher teacher training schools in Senegal.
