Revue annuelle de l'éducation à Kaolack : Le bac plombe les performances de l’IA
The Kaolack region held its annual review of the education sector today. Chaired by Governor Mouhamadou Moctar Watt, the exercise provided an opportunity to take stock of the previous school year and outline the prospects for the coming year.
Speaking at the meeting, the Kaolack regional education inspector, Samba Diakhaté, explained: “We have gathered today with the Governor and all stakeholders to share the regional education inspectorate's performance report for 2025, as well as the key areas of the 2025-2026 annual work plan. This regional development committee has allowed us to interact with the various categories of stakeholders: parents, unions, local authorities, and the different projects and programs operating in the region.”
Continuing, he indicated that "for the key indicators targeted by the Ministry of National Education regarding academic results, we are satisfied. There has been a jump of more than 8 points in the CFEE (Certificate of Completion of Elementary Education) in 2025. We have also recorded a jump of more than 7 points for the BFM (Brevet de Fin d'Études Moyennes). These are encouraging results. However, the downward trend in the baccalaureate has followed the national trend, with a loss of 4 points. This trend is national, and since last year we have been taking measures to improve this situation and, more generally, to strengthen quality management systems for primary, middle, and secondary education."
At the elementary level, traditional operational arrangements are emphasized, just as at the middle and secondary levels.
According to the head of the education sector in Kaolack, the measures taken this year, despite the particularity of 2026, should allow the focus to be placed on supervision, but also on training and on the deployment and supervision of school principals and accountants in terms of renewing the initiative.
Speaking about improving the performance of schools, he indicated the adoption of relevant indicators to enhance the results of each institution. "Private schools will be monitored, as we conducted an internal audit of private education last year. This year, we will help revitalize the Council of Stakeholders and Partners in Private Education. This will involve implementing the training program for the management of these private schools. All of these measures should allow us to improve the situation at the regional level," he explained.
